Happy Thanksgiving! Here are four practical things I have learned about giving thanks.
(1) Being thankful is a decision: We do not give thanks because we feel like it; we choose to give thanks because it is the correct thing to do. The Bible tells us to be thankful (Colossians 3:15)
(2) We give thanks because God is always good. No matter what we are going through in our lives, God is still good. And it could always be much worse! If we grumble instead of giving thanks, we are really saying, “If I were God, I would not do it this way.” Remember, He is God and we are not!
(3) Giving thanks is the most effective way to find God’s will for our lives. The Bible tells us to “give thanks in all circumstances, this is the will of God in Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Ungrateful people find it hard to accept God’s will and purposes in their lives.
(4) Giving thanks positions us to more quickly recognize the voice of God when he speaks to us. The disciples on the road to Emmaus were holding a conversation with Jesus, but only recognized Him as Jesus after He thanked the Heavenly Father for the food before them.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

You cannot say that you love God when you dont love your neighbour. When you love your neighbour you will have loved God

Ooops, I meant to say that it was a TRIBUTE to you Larry.
Thanks
Love this post. These are things I strive to do in my everyday live, however my friend(wishes not to be named but has a fondness for onions)does not. I was wondering if there are any other practical things you have learned as my friend is not the best and often tells me to get out of his swamp when I try to sing to him.
kind regards
Ben
Hello any fellow Americans reading this.
Larry, I would just like to say that I have been reading this blog for years now and it’s pretty good. I sometimes forget to read it, but quickly try and catch up on everything when I return.
You are a good man Larry Kreider, my thoughts are with you and every single person who supports this blog in any way, especially Cuan from a few other posts. He seems to be lost Larry, he can’t seem to be happy as a fig tree. Help him please.
Good luck Larry
Regards
Thanks Larry!!! I haven’t been home to see my family in years due to traveling. I am home now for thanks giving and can I just say that this post has been so helpful. God is still good. “And it could always be much worse! If we grumble instead of giving thanks, we are really saying, “If I were God, I would not do it this way.” Remember, He is God and we are not!” These are words to live by Larry. Thanks!!
best wishes
