Did you ever wonder where Ebola, terrorism, disease and poverty came from? God had a perfect plan for this world. His plan for the human race, starting with Adam and Eve, was that all of creation would be blessed. There would be no Ebola, terrorism, disease or poverty. There would be only beauty, health and abundance.

However, sin entered the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Instead of obeying God’s commandment, Adam and Eve made a decision that seemed right in their eyes and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Their fatal mistake affects all of us. “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).

Due to Adam and Eve’s disobedience, we live in a “cursed and fallen” world. Sin gained entrance into the human race, and we are all born with an impulse toward sin and evil.

But the glorious, good news is that Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil! He came to dissolve the power, influence and connection of sin in our lives. The Bible tells us in 1 John 3:8, “the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” The Holy Spirit, who lives in every true believer, is greater and more powerful than the devil and his demons in this world. Jesus said, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

We can overcome the devil and his evil schemes because we have been given the victory through Jesus! Today, reach out and trust Him.
