Here is a lesson in faith from the weatherman. A construction company owner told me recently that he trusts the weatherman’s forecast, because it has been correct again and again. That might surprise some of you, but he was serious. He has built his company on the weatherman’s daily forecast.
A weatherman uses radar and satellite to predict a storm coming. He is sure the storm is coming, but he cannot prove it because it has not yet physically arrived. He looks at the evidence, and takes a step of faith by broadcasting his forecast. When the storm actually comes, faith is no longer needed. The storm has become a reality. Once we have a manifestation of what we desire in our circumstances, we no longer need faith in that area. But until we experience the reality of that which we are believing our God for, we need faith! The Bible says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” and “without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Heb. 11:1,6)
What are you believing God for today? What do you desire to see changed in your life, your family, your church and in your community? Look at the evidence found in the Word of God and begin to speak to yourself those things you believe He is showing you. Talking to ourselves is really healthy as long as we are saying words of faith, and not words filled with doubt and worry.
We learn, through maturing in Christ, that if we trust and obey the Lord when He speaks, God will honor our steps of obedience. We may make mistakes, but God will take our mistakes and turn them around for good if we walk in faith. (Rom. 8:28) The fact that everything works toward our good does not mean it will always feel good at the moment or that we will always enjoy the process. But we can trust Him and we can trust His Word. And the good news is that if we do stray off course, our amazing Heavenly Father will reach out in love and nudge us back on track.
