Most of life’s battles are in our mind. The devil is constantly lying to us. The Scriptures tell is to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (II Cor. 10:5). “Taking every thought captive” means to actively filter our mental chatter—which includes fear, doubt, unbelief, anxiety, insecurity and negativity—and align it to the truth of the Word of God. It is a proactive, disciplined process of arresting disobedient thoughts and submitting them to Christ. Otherwise, we will passively accept these negative thoughts as truth. We must treat negative and ungodly thoughts as intruders that have no right to stay. We evaluate our thoughts based on the promises of scripture to determine if they are true. Then we bring them into obedience. We replace wrong thoughts with truth, actively aligning our mindset with Christ and His promises. “We can do all things through Christ! (Phil. 4:13).” “Overwhelming victory is ours through Christ Who loved us (Rom. 8:37).” Let’s grab any ungodly thoughts we have today, take them captive, and replace them with God’s truth.
