Someone once said, “It’s only the water that’s on the inside of the boat that causes danger, not the water outside.” Proverbs 4:23 tells us; “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Even if there is conflict or trouble all around us, we must guide our heart. Our spiritual heart condition greatly influences the course and situations of our life.

We cannot control what happens around us, but we can control what happens inside. We cannot control how people treat us, but we can control how we respond to what they do or say.

Guard your heart when difficult times come. Receive grace; God’s free unmerited favor. Live one day at a time. Learn all you can during this season, so you do not need to go back and take the same test again.

In the midst of the storms of life, we need to remember the words of Paul the apostle, “Having done everything you know to do, to stand! (Eph. 6:13).” Sometimes, after praying every prayer we know to pray, and saying everything we know to say, we simply need to stand. God is working. We can trust Him!
