We cannot control what happens around us, but we can control what happens on the inside of us. We cannot control how people treat us, but we can control how we respond to what they say and do. Someone once said, “Its only the water that’s on the inside of the boat that causes danger, not the water on the outside.”
The Scriptures tell us; “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Prov. 4:31). Why does it say, “Above all else?” Because our heart condition greatly influences the course and situations of every area of our life. I am convinced that our God sometimes crafts circumstances according to the lessons we need to learn. So even if there is conflict or trouble around you during this present season of your life, always guard your heart. Be quick to forgive and receive grace from God to love unconditionally. It will influence every other area of your life.
