Where I live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, we are coming into my favorite season: autumn. LaVerne and I love the fall of the year with the leaves turning into beautiful colors. Much of the world has only two seasons: a rainy season and a dry season. But we are blessed here in Pennsylvania with four seasons.
Life also comes in seasons. The winter season is often hard and difficult. The spring season is when we begin to see light at the end of the tunnel as things are changing for the better. The summer season is a time of blessing and prosperity. And the fall season includes an initial harvest, but then things begin to get a bit difficult again as winter approaches. I meet so many who are in a winter season in life—some in a mid-life crisis—where things did not turn out the way they expected.
We must understand the seasons of life. We all experience change and transitions. Sometimes life is exciting, dynamic, and we feel on top of the world. At other times we just want to go away and escape the situation. King David said in Psalm 55:6, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” If we do not understand that there are seasons in life, we may draw the wrong conclusions about what is happening in our lives or the reasons for what is happening. Remember, it is just a season. Jesus is still on the throne. Our names are written in the Book of Life. There are amazing seasons coming in your future.
