Prayer and perseverance are often both needed to see our circumstances change. God showed Elijah that He would send rain to end a drought (1 Kings 18). Elijah prayed for the rain, but it did not come. Seven times Elijah sent his servant to look at the sky to see if rain clouds were forming. No rain! But Elijah was persistent in his prayer. Rather than get discouraged, he simply kept on praying until he saw evidence of the answer to his prayer. He believed that God would send rain because God had promised it, but Elijah had to keep praying until the circumstances changed. The circumstances, in fact, did change. It rained just as God said it would, but only after Elijah resolutely prayed and persevered. What are you praying about that the Lord is requiring perseverance?
