We all need to experience Sabbath rest—the kind of rest that involves ceasing from our own efforts and relying entirely on God (Heb. 4:9). Sabbath rest comes from a person—Jesus Christ. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and are depending on Him alone for salvation, then you have rested from your own work. You are trusting in His finished work and you are experiencing the Sabbath rest that God wants you to have. We can live every day in the freedom and blessings of Christ’s finished work as we tune in to hear His voice. His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matt. 11:28-30). We need to be sure we are only carrying His burden, not self-made burdens or the burdens and expectations of others. When we live moment by moment at rest with Him, we can hear His voice so much more clearly.
