The story is told of a man, who in utter frustration, asked his pastor why God had not been giving him answers. Unable to hear the pastor’s mumbled reply, the man moved closer, asking the pastor to repeat what he had said. Still unable to hear the reply, he moved closer and closer until finally his ear almost touched the pastor. Then he heard the pastor’s faintest whisper, “Sometimes God whispers so that we will move closer to Him.” Job 33:14 tells us, “God does speak . . . though man may not perceive it.” Prayer is simply talking to God, and listening to God. Communication is incomplete if we do all the talking. The more listening time we spend with our heavenly Father, the better we will understand His heart for us. God always knows what is best, and He has the exact timing.
