Meditating on the Word of God is powerful! Someone once said the mind is like a tree full of monkeys jumping from branch to branch. The whirl of distractions that clamor for our attention when we try to quiet ourselves often involve the usual cast of characters—our “to do” list, a chore we should have done yesterday—the list goes on. Sometimes it seems virtually impossible to slow down enough to quiet our mind so that we can focus on what God is saying to us. Meditation involves a deliberate action on the part of the individual to ponder or think. If we’ve ever worried about something, we already know how to meditate, because every person meditates every day. The question is, what are we meditating on? We must get our minds set on spiritual things because as long as we fill our minds with what’s happening in the natural, we restrict our effectiveness. The solution? To meditate on the Word of God and give ourselves every opportunity to remember what is true. The Bible encourages us to; “meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Joshua 1:8)
