Do not allow the past to steal your present, nor the uncertainty of the future to steal your joy. Every problem that you and I have is an opportunity for a miracle or new door to be opened. As you read through the Bible, you’ll find that every miracle was preceded by a problem. The Red Sea parted because the children of Israel had a problem—they had to flee the pursuing Egyptians. Jesus fed the five thousand because there was a problem—the people were hungry. The blind man was healed because he had a problem—he could not see. God desires to use you today as an instrument of His miraculous power.
God wants us to live to the fullest in the present and allow Him to reign in the midst of our problems. Matthew 6:33-34 tells us, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I appreciate the words of John Newton when he said, “We can easily manage if we will only take, each day, the burden appointed to it. But the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday’s burden over again today, and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it.”
Alexander Bell said, “When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” Let’s not miss today’s opportunity to experience a miracle because we are focusing too much on the past or on the future. It is time to open our eyes, see beyond the obvious, and expect a miracle.
