The older I get, the more I realize how powerful my words are. We must be careful how we speak. Matthew 12:34 says, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” In other words, we believe with our heart, and what we speak is often what we really believe. Life and death are in the power of the tongue.
By our speech, we can pronounce either a blessing or a curse on ourselves or on others. If we continually say, “I think I’m going to get sick,” we can begin to pronounce a curse of sickness on our lives. Instead we should say, “I feel like I’m getting sick, but I know that God desires for me to be whole, and I receive His healing in Jesus’ Name.” By speaking words of faith, we pronounce a blessing on our lives.
Sometimes people say, “Since my mother or father suffered from depression, maybe I’ll be depressed also.” By speaking and believing these words, we can begin to open the door for the devil to lay what we speak on our lives. The enemy will attempt to use these words to place fear in our lives, and the things that we fear can come upon us. Job 3:25 tells us, “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me.” Fear is destroyed as we speak the Word of God to ourselves and to others around us. God tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” And remember, your Heavenly Father was never depressed, and you are His child!
The devil is a legalist. He will use our words against us. We need to be careful how we speak. This week, let’s speak the things that God says in His Word; life-giving words that release hope in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

Larry…In the midst of our life situation with Barry I find myself doing this very teaching. Satan wants to put negative thoughts in so I speak them out but I am trying to stand on the word and confess healing on Barry’s body. I miss your teachings. Our greatest growth in the Lord started when we came to Dove and I appreciate all the leadership we had over the years.
Praying for complete healing for Barry.
Lots of love,
Larry and LaVerne

What are we to do if we spoke destructive, negative comments and calamity has come? How do we reverse the negative happenings from those spoken words? I assume acknowledge, repent and have faith that reversal will come. Any thoughts?
Yes, we acknowledge, repent and have faith that reversal will come. But then we trust the truth of Romans 8:28: All things shall work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. God can turn this all around for good. Our God is truly amazing!
