LaVerne and I were in Washington DC this past Memorial Day weekend. Thousands converged on our nation’s capital to remember their loved ones and grieve for those who gave their lives in combat. It was a moving experience. There is so much pain and loss all around us; families and marriages in crisis, those who have lost their jobs and homes, and business persons needing to liquidate due to a tough economy. You do not need to be a prophet to see that we are in a global economic crisis. But we need to have a proper perspective.

This same scenario has happened many times throughout history. Hundreds of years before Christ, Jeremiah the prophet proclaimed: “I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!” (Lamentations 3:20-24)

Let’s remember the faithfulness and love of our God during these trying times. Every day is a new day with Him! Let’s say to ourselves along with Jeremiah; “Great is Your faithfulness; Your mercies begin afresh this morning.”

Remember, our God is building His unshakeable kingdom regardless of what we see around us. For example, 30,000 people are still coming to Christ every day in China. I meet people week after week who are hungry for God. In the midst of a global crisis, God’s supernatural kingdom continues to grow exponentially on our planet. We are on the winning team! Embrace a new day today! We have much hope in Him!
