We all need milestones. They help us face our future with confidence. Samuel the prophet, after the Lord gave God’s people a great victory, took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the LORD has helped us!” (I Sam. 7:12) We all need to set up our own Ebenezers, or milestones so to speak, to remember how the Lord has helped us as we look to our future in faith. Yesterday I graduated from Southwestern Christian University near Oklahoma City with a Masters of Ministry Degree. I see this as another milestone in my life, knowing that the same God who helped me complete this degree at age 60 after being out of school for 43 years, will surely help me with my next step of obedience. All believers and all leaders need their own milestones. What are the milestones in your life that you need to set up to remind you and your posterity of the faithfulness of God?
